Job Description:

We seek a dynamic individual for an adjunct clinical instructor in the occupational therapy program to work 15-20 hours per week December - July. The successful candidate will be a registered occupational therapist licensed to practice in Connecticut (additional licensure in MA preferred) and will possess a strong background and clinical experience working with young adult, adult and/or geriatric clients with varying levels of psychological abilities and disabilities. Experience should include assessment, treatment, and management of disorders typically seen within the population. The ideal candidate will also have experience supervising Level I and Level II fieldwork students in a clinical setting. The clinical instructor will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in experiential learning opportunities in both role-emergent and community-based fieldwork settings. Additionally, the clinical instructor will collaborate with the Department Chair, Director of Clinical Education, and other faculty/staff members to implement, modify, and regularly review department curriculum to ensure the didactic portion of the curriculum is consistent with the clinical experience.



Requirements:


Qualifications:



  • An earned degree in occupational therapy as well as current OTR certification and licensure in Connecticut (MA also preferred, but not required).

  • Clinical experience and interest working with individuals across the adult lifespan with chronic and persistent mental health disorders.

  • Minimum of three years practicing in the field of occupational therapy.

  • Experience supervising Level I and Level II fieldwork students.

  • Ability to work with confidential material with integrity and discretion.

  • Committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty, students, staff, and administration.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple responsibilities.

  • General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose and goals and the role of an OT community-based or role-emergent fieldwork in achieving said goals.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.


Essential Job Functions:



  • Supervision of Level II fieldwork students in a clinical setting.

  • Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to clients on site.

  • Clinical instruction in the evaluation process, treatment planning, documentation, and interventions of occupational therapy services to young adults, adults, and older adults, with a variety of abilities and disabilities in a role-emergent and/or community based mental health setting.

  • Responsible for midterm and final evaluation of students' performance using the AOTA Fieldwork Performance Evaluation.

  • Maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with other professionals, administrators, and staff at each site.

  • Work collaboratively with the Department Chair, Director of Clinical Education, and other faculty/staff.

  • Engage in appropriate and relevant professional development.

  • Maintain professional licensure in Connecticut.

  • Adhere to HIPAA and FERPA privacy standards.

  • Attend trainings as required.

  • If you operate a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid driver's license and must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.
